Nora Owen criticises Judge Carney's lack of sympathy

Former Justice Minister Nora Owen has said that High Court Judge Paul Carney was more sympathetic to the situation of convicted killer Wayne O’Donoghue than towards to the family of his victim 11-year-old Robert Holohan.

Speaking on RTÉ radio the former minister attended last week’s lecture in Cork where Mr Justice Paul Carney was critical of what Roberts mother Majella Holohan had said in her victim impact statement at Wayne O’Donoghue’s sentencing hearing in January 2006 said that: "Even as I listened to what the Judge had to say I knew instantly that the way in which Judge Carney put some of his opinions were going to cause great pain to Majella Holohan."
