Four candidates in the Seanad elections are meeting Minister for the Environment John Gormley today to discuss what they say are widespread inaccuracies in the voting register.

The candidates are all standing for elections in the two university constituencies - NUI and Trinity College.

They claim tens of thousands of people are incorrectly on the voting register, while tens of thousands of eligible voters are not included.

They say this is costing taxpayers up to €800,000 in wasted election literature, which is funded by the State.
