Prisoner stabbed to death in Mountjoy

An inmate died tonight following a violent attack in Mountjoy jail, the Prison Service confirmed.

The incident happened shortly after 6pm when it is believed the man, in his 20s, was stabbed by another prisoner.

He was rushed to the Mater Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Gardaí have launched an investigation.
