TEEU seeks meeting with Minister on Pfizer job losses
A meeting is being sought with the Minister for Enterprise, Trade & Employment Micheal Martin by one of the unions representing workers at Pfizer's three plants in Cork.
A total of 535 high skilled jobs will be shed over the course of the next two years at Loughbeg, Little Island and Ringaskiddy.
The company and the IDA want to sell two of the plants as going-concerns.
Pat Guilfoyle of the TEEU wants assurances from management during a meeting later today that Pfizer will recognise the commitment and dedication of workers.
"Some of the people affected have given service to Pfizer since the 1970s and Pfizer are on record as saying that the workers have in no way contributed to the crisis that's occurred at these plants.
"Now what we want is for Pfizer to step up to the mark and treat these people in a way that would reflect their service," he said.
