Govt in bid to fast-track return of Irish woman’s body

The Department of Foreign Affairs has said it is working to fast-track the repatriation of the body of an Irish woman who was found dead on a beach in Spain last week.

Jean Reilly, a native of Drogheda who had been living and working in Majorca for a number of years, was discovered by fishermen on a rocky beach near Palma nine days ago.

Spanish police have yet to determine what form their investigation should take.

Reports this morning said Ms Reilly had marks on her body, but it is unknown how she sustained the injuries.

She had also reportedly telephoned her family in an agitated state and said she feared for her safety only days before her remains were found.

This morning's reports say the 33-year-old was booked to depart on a flight for Dublin last Tuesday and was reported missing by her family when she failed to return home as planned.
