A Dublin man who fatally stabbed a father-of-three after an all-day drinking session has been convicted of murder in the Central Criminal Court today.

The victim, Peter Mitchell (aged 32), lay covered in his own blood with his ankles tied together for three days before found by gardaí.

Alan Keogh (aged 33) from Wellmount Green in Finglas, had pleaded not guilty to murder, but admitted the manslaughter of Peter Mitchell, at Monasterboice Road in Crumlin between October 17-20, 2003.

It took the jury of six men and six women just under three hours to return their unanimous verdict.

Mr Justice Barry White imposed the mandatory life sentence on Keogh.
