Sinnott planning study to establish prevalence of autism

Irish MEP and disabilities campaigner Kathy Sinnott is undertaking a major study to establish the prevalence of autism across Europe.

Ms Sinnott, whose son Jamie suffers with the condition, says the move is designed to get reliable figures on autism and the number of people it affects.

She claims the prevalence of autism is increasing across Europe, but figures are needed before national governments will take the issue seriously.
