Shooting and stabbing victims fighting for life
Two men were fighting for their lives in hospital today following separate stabbing and shooting incidents in Dublin.
A 24-year old man was shot in the back and legs at 10.30pm last night in Sundrive Park in Crumlin. Gardaí were on patrol near the 42-acre park, which was built in the 1960s, when they heard the man’s screams.
The man was taken by ambulance to St James’s Hospital where he was said to be in a serious condition.
In the second serious incident, a teenager was stabbed at a works ground at Shankill DART station shortly after 4am today.
He was taken to St Columcilles Hospital in Loughlinstown and then subsequently transferred to St Vincent’s Hospital.
A Garda spokesman said his condition was described as critical.
Two men, aged 22 and 23, have been arrested in connection with the incident and were detained at Shankhill Garda station. They can be held for up to 12 hours under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.
Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to contact Shankill Garda Station at 01 6665900.
