State Pathologist to give evidence in London murder trial

Ireland's State Pathologist is due to give evidence in London today at the trial of a man charged with killing his Irish girlfriend in Dublin more than two years ago.

Sixty-two-year-old Christopher Newman, an Indian-born British subject, is accused of stabbing 28-year-old Georgina Eagar to death at her home in the Walkinstown area of Dublin in May 2003.

Ms Eager, a native of Co Wicklow, was an employee of Mr Newman's at his alternative therapy clinic in Walkinstown.

Mr Newman, who was arrested in London on the night Ms Eagar's body was found, has denied murdering her.

He is being tried in Britain under new legislation that allows the courts to hear cases relating to crimes committed in other jurisdictions.
