Two Chinese men held following stabbing of gardaí
Two Chinese men remain in custody following the overnight stabbing of two gardaí in north Dublin.
James Hendrick and Dave Comber, both stationed at Howth, were called to the scene of a reported robbery in a rented house on Raheny's Main Street.
They both received stab wounds to the chest and back, with what gardaí say was a blunt weapon, possibly a screwdriver.
Gda Hendrick was discharged from hospital. His colleague remains in a critical but stable condition at the Mater Hospital.
Superintendent Nicholas Conneely of Raheny Station said Gda Comber was immediately set upon by a hooded man as he entered the house. “He was stabbed several times and Gda Hendrick succeeded in getting Gda Comber from the house,” he said. “Gda Hendrix was injured as well.”
