Spending watchdog to investigate National Aquatic Centre
The Comptroller and Auditor General is reportedly planning to investigate recent controversies at the €62m National Aquatic Centre and the amount of money they have cost Irish taxpayers.
It emerged earlier this week that the centre was leaking millions of litres of water through massive cracks that had opened up in the floor.
Earlier this year, a part of the roof of the complex also blew off during a storm.
Meanwhile, the government body responsible for the facility is suing the company appointed to run and maintain it, Dublin Waterworld Ltd, which was awarded the contract despite having share capital of just €127 and no fixed assets.
