BCC upholds two complaints against Dunphy radio show

The Broadcasting Complaints Commission (BCC) has upheld two complaints against Eamonn Dunphy’s show on Dublin radio station Newstalk.

One of the complaints related to a spoof newsflash last December saying that Pope John Paul II had died.

The BCC described the spoof as crass, unwarranted and in extremely bad taste.

The commission also criticised another sketch on the same show featuring a man boasting about having sex with a number of Filipina women, saying it was discriminatory and used racist and lewd descriptions.

Meanwhile, the body also upheld a complaint against RTE news for showing a mentally ill man being led from court in restraints after being found guilty but insane in a murder trial.
