RAC: Learner drivers giving too much credence to test myths

A new survey for the RAC School of Motoring shows that many learner drivers are putting their faith in myths when it comes to preparing for their driving test.

Learner drivers are instead being urged to focus on preparing well for their test, rather than believing myths about who passes and who fails.

The RAC says people should be focusing on the new aspects of the test, which require drivers to be more familiar with how their car actually functions.

Ailbhe Sharp, of the RAC, said that learners should be spending more time getting to grips with the new test requirements, where drivers must know more about the workings of the car, and practical measures such as knowing how to check your tyres.

She also said that one of the most common myths is that candidates have a better chance of passing outside the capital, which has been proved to be false.
