Primary principals ‘stressed out due to heavy workload’
The association representing the principals of Irish primary schools has claimed that its members are suffering from exhaustion, burn-out, migraines and anxiety because of the stress of their work.
The Irish Primary Principal's Network said a survey of 800 of its members found that three-quarters of them felt overloaded with work and bureaucracy.
It said many had been advised by their GP to take sick leave in order to protect their health.
The matter is due to be discussed at the network's annual conference, which gets underway in Dublin this evening.
