Who goes where in relocation programme
One year after the Government’s decentralisation programme was announced, plans for the first batch of relocations were revealed.
Almost 3,500 civil servants from 15 Government departments will be relocated to 20 locations by 2008.
In the first phase:
:: The Department of Social and Family Affairs will move to Drogheda, Co Louth and will also move 100 staff to Sligo.
:: The Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources will be relocated in Drogheda and 91 staff will move to Clonakilty, Co Cork.
:: The Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism headquarters will move to Killarney, Co Kerry.
:: The Revenue Commissioners will move 150 staff to Kilrush, Co Clare, Listowel in Co Kerry and Newcastlewest in Co Limerick.
:: The Department of Foreign Affairs will relocate 125 staff to Limerick.
:: The Irish Prison Service headquarters will move 159 staff to Longford.
:: The Department of Transport will move 40 staff to Loughrea, Co Galway.
:: The Department of Defence headquarters, with 202 staff, will move to Newbridge, Co Kildare.
:: The Department of Agriculture is relocating 392 staff to Portlaoise, Co Laois.
:: The Office of Public Works headquarters will also be in the first wave of transfers, with 333 staff moving to Trim, Co Meath.
:: The Department of Finance is moving 135 staff to Tullamore in Co Offaly.
