Brinks staff prepared to work under normal conditions

SIPTU has vowed to call off next week’s planned strike action at Brinks Allied if the company’s staff are allowed to work under normal terms and conditions.

The workers are refusing to operate new security vans and procedures which they believe will compromise their health and safety.

Brinks introduced the changes in an effort to combat a recent spate of armed raids.

Speaking ahead of LRC talks on the matter today, SIPTU spokesman Kevin McMahon said: “We realise that Brinks are as much victims of the present situation as our members. All we are asking is that the company take on board the health and safety concerns of our members in tackling the problem.”
