Memorial to bomb victims to be unveiled
The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Michael Conaghan will unveil a memorial on the footpath on Sackville Place tomorrow morning in memory of three CIE workers killed in two explosions on Sackville Place in December 1972 and January 1973.
The memorial to George Bradshaw, Thomas Duffy and Tommy Douglas is in the form of a bronze design, depicting randomly strewn flowers and a dedication plaque all set into the paving stones.
The piece was designed by Tom Duffy, son of the late Thomas Duffy and co-funded by Dublin City Council and CIE.
The chairman of CIE, Dr John Lynch and Bernie McNally, chair of Justice for the Forgotten, will also attend.
Relatives of the deceased men will attend the ceremony along with serving and retired work colleagues. Said the Lord Mayor Councillor Michael Conaghan.
"This memorial is a fitting tribute to the three young men who tragically lost their lives. It is an honour to be asked to unveil it," said the Lord Mayor.
