Justice Minister launches domestic violence agency

Justice Minister Michael McDowell has launched a national domestic violence intervention agency in an effort to deal with the problem of domestic violence in Ireland.

Justice Minister Michael McDowell has launched a national domestic violence intervention agency in an effort to deal with the problem of domestic violence in Ireland.

Don Hennessy, the agency's director, said it was designed to improve safety for victims of domestic violence.

Mr Hennessy said the new agency, which is connected to the court system, would also engage with perpetrators and challenge them to change their behaviour.
