The United States' special envoy to the North has hinted that US President George W Bush may get personally involved in the stalled Irish peace process.

Speaking after a meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister Brian Cowen today, Richard Haass said the US will do its best to help if the Northern parties seek the intervention or Mr Bush or his Secretary of State, Colin Powell.
