Gardai investigate suspicious deaths in Meath and Dublin
Gardai in Co Meath and Dublin are treating as suspicious the deaths of two people overnight.
Gardai in Ashbourne are investigating the death of a woman in her mid-fifties, who was found lying on the street outside her home on the Old Mill Estate in Rathoathe after midnight.
It is understood that the woman sustained injuries, consistent with an assault on the person.
A man has been arrested and is assisting gardai with their inquiries.
In Dublin a man in his mid-forties was found lying unconscious in Frederick Lane in the Fitzgibbon St area of Dublin at 11.30pm last night.
The man had sustained injuries to the head.
He was take to the Mater hospital for treatment, but died a short time later.
Gardai at Fitzgibbon St garda station are investigating.
Both scenes have been preserved for technical examination.
The Assistant State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy,is due to carry out preliminary examinations later today.
