Taoiseach Enda Kenny has denied it took a series of brutal gangland murders for his Government to address long-term problems in Dublin’s north inner city, as he launched a high-profile campaign for the area.

Gardai in Co Meath and Dublin are treating as suspicious the deaths of two people overnight.

The Special Criminal Court today cancelled an arrest warrant for the Belfast man who died after shooting himself in a garda station last month.

Gardai say they have now identified the man who shot himself inside a Dublin garda station last evening, but will not be releasing his name.
