Gardai in Dublin have arrested a 16-year-old youth in connection with the death of a taxi driver in the city on Saturday morning.

Gardai in Dublin have arrested a 16-year-old youth in connection with the death of a taxi driver in the city on Saturday morning.

Robert McGowan was killed when his taxi was struck by a stolen vehicle in Summerhill. The stolen car smashed into the taxi sending it into the air.

The three teenage occupants of the stolen vehicle were taken to hospital suffering with extensive injuries.

At 11.30am this morning gardai arrested the 16-year-old at the Mater Hospital. The youth is now detained at Mountjoy garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
