300-year-old house found under Dublin street
A 300-year-old house has been found underneath a busy Dublin street.
The ruins were found during excavation works for the Irish capital's new light rail project.
Workmen excavating the site came upon the ruins just a few feet under the surface.
The 17th century site near O'Connell bridge is to house a power station for the light rail project.
A team of archaeologists are now working to establish the significance of the discovery on O'Connell Street. They have so far found evidence of intricate stonework.
It is understood if the discovery proves to be of "significant archaeological value" it will be fully excavated and recorded.
