DTO rejects Metro link claims

The overseers of the Dublin airport metro link are today rejecting claims that the project is set to run way over time and budget.

The Dublin Transportation Office will issue a statement following reports yesterday that costs for the link are set to soar.

They insist the airport link-up will be built on time and on budget.

The results of a confidential study into the project forecasted a €20m over-run, as well as a five-year delay beyond the planned completion date of 2007.

DTO Executive, John Henry, rubbished the claims, saying no account is being taken of the amount of revenue the line will provide.

He believes the metro link is essential for Dublin's economy, and says there is no reason to believe there will be delays or over-runs of any kind.
