Man held over Derry blast
Police investigating the murder of a civilian construction worker at a Territorial Army camp in Derry today made a fresh arrest.
A man was detained in the Sion Mills area this morning by detectives probing the murder of David Caldwell last week.
Mr Caldwell, 51, died after he picked up a lunchbox packed with explosives in the Caw Camp in the city last Thursday.
Today’s arrest is the sixth made by officers investigating the case. The other five detainees, four men and one woman, were released without charge on Saturday.
Security sources have pointed to the involvement of the Real IRA in the attack.
Detectives are to revisit the scene of the murder on the Limavady Road tonight between 10.30pm and midnight.
A spokesman said they will be carrying out road checks in an effort to identify witnesses.
Several hundred people walked from the camp to the city’s Guildhall Square on Monday in protest at the killing.
