Arsonists attack church in North

Arsonists have attacked a Catholic church in the North ahead of tomorrow’s controversial parades.

The attack was on the Aughnahoy chapel in Portglenone in Co Antrim. It’s believed that the blaze was started by pipe bombers.

Police have launched an investigation into the attack, which left flooring at the rear of the church and some seating worst affected.

SDLP Assembly member Sean Farren - who saw the fire scene - insists that the attack was done to intimidate and send out a message to Catholics that they are not welcome.

The North is now preparing for the Orange Order’s July 12 marches due to start in the next 24 hours.
