UUP 'may call for decommissioning deadline'

Gerry Adams has welcomed reports that the Ulster Unionist leader, David Trimble may not impose another decommissioning deadline.

However, this comes despite the fears that the Ulster Unionist Party may want to impose a decommissioning deadline when the party's ruling council meets on December 1.

The delegates of the UUP are expected to discuss if they should pull out of the executive again if the IRA has not completed decommissioning by February next year.

Mr Adams said that history has shown that deadlines are counter-productive.

Meanwhile, the Sinn Fein president has expressed huge concerns over the recent rise in street violence in north Belfast. Gerry Adams said that the attacks are being organised by dissidents in an attempt to disrupt progress.

Earlier today police discovered a bomb-making factory in the Limestone Road area of north Belfast, a frequent flashpoint between loyalists and nationalists.
