Two due in court over Kildare arms dumps

Two men are due to appear before the Special Criminal Court today charged with membership of an illegal organisation.

The two were among five men arrested in the past week following the discovery of a number of arms dumps in the Athy area of Co Kildare earlier this month.

Firearms, rocket launchers, mortars and mortar launchers were found during an ongoing investigation into the activities of dissident republicans.

The three other men questioned about the discovery have been released without charge and files have been sent to the DPP.
