Irish judge makes Bosnian boundary decision

An Irish judge, sent to rule on a boundary dispute between a Muslim-Croat alliance and Serbs in Sarajevo has found in favour of the former.

Judge Diarmuid Sheridan awarded most of the contentious apartment buildings in a suburb of the city to the Muslim-Croat Federation, one of the mini-states which emerged after war in the 1990s.

The Serb Republic had also been seeking the buildings, which were the scene of fierce fighting.

A border established under the 1995 Dayton Accord had split many of the apartments in two, leaving half on each side.

Bosnian Serbs have expressed outrage at the decision, calling it a betrayal.

Judge Sheridan said he had made his decision so that war refugees can finally return home.
