Peter Keenan of 10A Mahon Park, Mahon, Cork, and also of an apartment at Mariners Quay, Passage West, Co Cork, was before Cork District Court arising out of two incidents.
On November 6, 2015, he was stopped by Garda Brian Motyer and gave his name incorrectly as John Keenan. In the course of an outline of the facts of that case, Insp Adrian Gamble said: “Sometimes he forgets himself and gives the name John Keenan.”
It was later established that he was Peter Keenan, 23. He pleaded guilty to driving without insurance, something for which he had six previous convictions.
The second incident occurred outside the Bull McCabe’s pub after a gathering for Sunday lunch when two men fought each other on May 17, 2015. Keenan was not one of them but he became involved in the aftermath and was threatening and abusive.
Insp Gamble said Keenan also resisted arrest by Garda Gillian Meaney and ran away. He was later caught.
Judge Olann Kelleher imposed a total sentence of five months for all of the offences and said: “Not alone did he resist Garda Meaney, he also threatened her. He will have to face the consequences.”
