Taoiseach Enda Kenny has flatly rejected claims he is set to establish a commission of inquiry into state property group Nama, insisting that reports of the move are “utterly speculative” and “there is no investigation taking place”.

The Fine Gael leader issued the clear denial despite Independents4Change TD Mick Wallace telling the Irish Examiner last night he is in discussions with “groups” about an inquiry being set up.

Speaking at the launch of a multi-million euro plan to address long-standing issues in Dublin’s north inner city yesterday, Mr Kenny was asked about suggestions the Government is considering establishing an inquiry into Nama’s sale of the Project Eagle Northern Ireland property portfolio.
