Some of the events taking place across Cork to commemorate the centenary of the Rising include:

  • Mallow Development Partnership, 1916-themed photography exhibition, Saturday-Monday: An exhibition of photographs of the 1966 historic pageant in Mallow will be shown, including photos of the local revolutionaries of the 1912/1922 period. The Proclamation and Tricolour will also feature in the exhibition, taking place as part of the Racing Home for Easter Festival. Mallow Racecourse
  • Mallow Development Partnership’s Easter Monday ceremonial event: A civic parade commencing at 9.30am at Mallow Courthouse. The parade will begin with the reading of the Proclamation and will be led by a colour party followed by the Thomas Davis Pipe Band, Mallow Civil Defence, Mallow Red Cross, Mallow Fire Service, Mallow Search and Rescue, and the general public.
  • Bantry Historical Society commemorative plaque: A commemorative plaque will be unveiled at Bridge St at 10am on Sunday, followed by a reception at Áras Bheanntraí. Later, the journey made by members of the Bantry Company to Kealkil on Easter Sunday, 1916, will be retraced to join a group from Ballingeary
  • Beara Historical Society historic volunteer march re-enactment: A re-enactment of a march by the Beara Volunteers from Eyeries to Lauragh in Kerry will take place on Sunday. The Volunteers were to assist in the distribution of the German rifles from the Aud — a plan which never came to fruition. The march leaves Eyeries village at 8.30am
  • Macroom War of Independence Commemoration Committee, Annual Easter Rising commemoration, Sunday: The ceremony, starting at 2.30pm, will include a parade led by the Cullen Pipe Band and will feature relatives of the 7th/8th Battalion, including many locations from the surrounding hinterland. The event will culminate in the raising of the Tricolour, the laying of a wreath, the Last Post, and a rendition of the national anthem.
  • Rosscarbery National Committee guided tour, Saturday: A guided tour of Rosscarbery’s Three Patriot Trail (Jeremiah O’Donovan Rossa, Michael Collins, and Tom Barry). This event commences at 2.30pm.
  • Rosscarbery National Committee has organised an audio/visual event entitled The Story of Rosscarbery in 1916, which will take place at 8.30pm on Saturday.
  • Mourneabbey Community Council commemorative gathering, Sunday: A community celebration of 1916 will take place in Mourneabbey including the unveiling of a plaque. The day will also involve a community walk from the birth place of Tomás MacCurtain in Ballyknockin to the Mourneabbey community centre
  • Kealkil 1916 Commemorative Committee:

A large community commemoration of 1916 is planned for Easter Sunday. This will include a recital by the Ballingeary Pipe Band followed by the unveiling of a commemorative plaque at the Parkland. The day will also see the raising of the Tricolour and traditional Irish music and dancing with local schoolchildren.
