RTÉ’s Reflecting the Rising event will allow the public and tourists to experience a wide range of talks and exhibitions, live musical and theatrical performances, special films, interactive activities and family entertainment to commemorate the 1916 Rising.
The free family event will take place in Dublin City from 11am to 6pm on March 28.
Some of the main events include:
- 300 talks as historians, leading commentators, and relatives of the rebels explore the events of Easter Week and its aftermath
- Hundreds of performers bring the streets alive through drama and music
- Walking tour guides will take you on a journey of discovery through the streets of Dublin, showing you where blood was spilled and history was made
- Music, live broadcasts, exhibitions and street performances on O’Connell Street

Director-general of RTÉ Noel Curran said the day-long event promised something for all ages.
“RTÉ, working with Ireland 2016 and a range of other partners, have produced a rich and diverse cultural and historical programme of free events and activities for the public.
“I very much hope that the public respond, as they did last year, to this great collective effort by filling the streets and the historic buildings of our capital city and joining RTÉ to commemorate and celebrate a century of Irish life,” he said.
There is an enhanced public transport system in operation for Easter Sunday and Easter Monday to allow everyone to attend the centenary celebrations.
