A creative Irish duo have launched a monstrous crowdfunding campaign to bring their part- zombie, part-vampire, part-wolf computer game character to life.

TV producer Derek Dillon, from Dublin, and app developer Ralph Hosford, from Cork, said they believe their ZompireWolf mobile game idea has global appeal, with potential spin-offs including cartoons, comics, console games, and even a movie.

“We’ve been working on ZompireWolf for a year and we’ve grown to love him,” Ralph said.

“We’re at the point now where we want to make him real and make him move. We just don’t want to leave him go.”

The pair dreamed up ZompireWolf, a 600-year-old part-zombie, part-vampire, and part-werewolf, as the star of a fast-paced, endless running mobile game, modelled on the same gameplay as the global smash hit, Temple Run.

But ZompireWolf, who will be fleeing from a guillotine bullet, will offer players more variables, such as the ability to switch his character traits by simply flicking the mobile device, to all-zombie, all-vampire, or all-wolf depending on the challenges he faces.

Dublin-based Ralph and Derek, who are embarking on their first creative venture together, said they have developed a full backstory and series of worlds for their character.

While he will initially feature in a mobile game app, Ralph said they believe ZompireWolf has universal appeal and huge potential, and could become a console game smash hit like Crash Bandicoot.

Ralph said they have received hugely positive feedback after showcasing ZompireWolf at Comic Con, and from various screen tests in local schools, but they need a team of expert animators to develop a top-quality 3D game.

They have now turned to creative crowd-funding platform Kickstarter, and have set themselves a target of raising €15,000 in just over three weeks to bring their dream to life.

Derek has spent ten years as a writer, producer, and director for some of Ireland’s biggest comedy shows, such as Republic of Telly.

He is a creator on the country’s longest-running hidden camera show, The Fear, and has written for and directed Jennifer Maguire’s best bits on the red carpet over the last five years.

Most recently, he featured on TV3’s rugby World Cup show The Sin Bin, as Match Day Derek.

Ralph has spent the last ten years as a web developer, creating interactive games and apps for clients such as U2, working on their Elevation DVD, the Cranberries, Stephen Pearce Pottery, and Hugo Boss Sailing.

He’s also developed his own iOS and Android mobile apps.
