VIDEO: Polish Embassy says 'go raibh maith agaibh' for decade of Irish kindness
With Poland preparing to celebrate the tenth anniversary of accession to the European Union next month, workers at the embassy in Dublin have released a video thanking the people of Ireland for their hospitality and generous welcome.
The quirky gesture sees staff members speaking ‘as gaeilge’ as they poke fun at the ‘good weather’, ’healthy food’ and unusual sports on offer here.
As members of the EU, Polish workers — like other EU-nation citizens — enjoy free movement of labour which saw many move to the Emerald Isle in search of work during the Celtic Tiger.
According to 2011 census figures, more than 122,000 Poles are still living here — the largest ethnic minority in the country.

“The staff of the Polish Embassy in Dublin wish to convey our gratitude to the Irish people for the openness and kindness they have shown to Poles in Ireland over the past decade... and also for all the joys that the Emerald Isle has to offer!” according to the embassy website.
Tongue firmly in cheek throughout, the makers of the video warn that it’s to be taken with a pinch of salt.
"Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir, a mhuintir na hÉireann!”
