Two men killed as lorry overturns
The single-vehicle crash happened on a minor road off the N24 between Clonmel and Kilsheelan in Co Waterford in an area known as Tickinor Hill at about 9am.
It is understood the lorry was going down a steep hill on the road when it went out of control and overturned.
The victims, one man in his late 20s and the other in his 50s, died shortly after the crash.
It is believed they were from the same area of Waterford. The road was closed off for a forensic examination.
Gardaí appealed for any witnesses to the accident to contact Clonmel Garda station on 052 6177640.
Meanwhile, five people were treated in hospital following a three-car crash in Co Clare yesterday. The collision happened at about 5.45pm at a dangerous crossroads on the R458, the old N18 Ennis to Galway road near the village of Barefield.
One woman sustained a serious head injury after she smashed into the windshield of the car in which she was travelling.
She was the first to be removed from the scene by paramedics while an elderly man in the same car sustained a broken arm.
Two other occupants of the car, all believed to be Romanian, were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The four casualties were brought to University Hospital in Limerick for treatment.
The driver of a second car was taken by his parents to the local injuries unit at Ennis General Hospital.
The occupants of the third vehicle were unhurt.
