The pair, aged in their mid-teens, had originally been charged at Dublin’s Children’s Court last month and each face a charge of rape of the same female.

It is alleged the attack occurred at the boy’s home in 2012. The pair also face charges for alleged sexual assault on the same date.

Judge John O’Connor was told the DPP had directed they are to face trial in the Central Criminal Court.

The teens, who have not indicated how they will plead, were told they must continue to obey several bail conditions. Judge O’Connor warned them that they must not contact the alleged injured party, members of her family, or witnesses, directly or electronically, adding that this included “Facebook, email, Twitter”.
