‘Injuries inconsistent with man’s testimony’

A prosecutor has told a murder trial that the injuries that led to a Drogheda woman’s death were inconsistent with the version of events given by her boyfriend, who is charged with her murder.

The Central Criminal Court trial heard Mary Ryan was found unconscious in her boyfriend’s bedsit last year. An autopsy found she died due to neck compression and blunt force trauma to the head.

Waldemar Solowiow, aged 46, of Sherrard St Upper in Dublin, has pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter of the 37-year-old at that address between May 18 and 19, 2012.
