Wild mink have been fleeing across the sea to islands as mainland traps cut their attacks on endangered birds.

The National Parks and Wildlife Service have found mink this year on Inishmurray Island, seven kilometres off the coast of Sligo. There have also been found on Inishbofin, off the Donegal mainland.

The National Parks and Wildlife Service has recruited trappers for predators such as feral mink, grey crows and foxes for the past six years. They have been bidding to save endangered species, including the corncrake.
