Accenture announces 140 new tech jobs in Ireland
The NYSE-listed firm said it is looking to hire graduates and experienced IT specialists. Accenture said it hopes to hire staff with knowledge of specific skills including in Java, SAP, cloud computing, data management, and digital technologies.
“These new positions are being created in response to our clients’ growing need for new technology solutions, which will help transform their businesses by improving efficiencies and creating new opportunities,” said Mark Ryan, managing director of Accenture in Ireland.
The multinational consultancy firm, which employs 266,000 people in more than 120 countries, already has 1,400 staff in the Republic.
Mr Ryan said Accenture would focus on the recruitment of graduates who had studied “stem” subjects such as science, engineering, technology, and mathematics.
Accenture, which generated net revenue of $27.9bn (e21bn) in its latest financial year, established an analytics innovation centre in Dublin two years ago in response to growing demand for IT services from its clients.
Welcoming the jobs announcement by Accenture, IDA Ireland chief executive Barry O’Leary said Ireland’s third-level institutions were developing specific courses in digital technology to ensure a flow of graduates and experienced recruits over the coming years.
