Drugsmaker Eirgen to create 30 Waterford jobs
The jobs are being created to support the increased focus on in-house research and development &of a range of oncology products for global markets.
Eirgen Pharma specialises in the development and licensing of oncology drugs for the global medications market.
The jobs are due to come on-stream over the coming months. Jobs Minister Richard Bruton described the development as an indication of how Ireland’s economy could recover.
“A central part of the Government’s plan for jobs and growth is creating a powerful engine of indigenous, export-focused companies,” he said.
“Eirgen is a prime example of the successful companies that will help drive our economic recovery.”
Eirgen’s co-founder Patsy Carney, said the new “skilled jobs” will help the firm “continue to grow our business in over 40 countries worldwide”.
“We are especially pleased and proud to be able to grow our employment levels in Waterford in these difficult economic times for our city,” he said.
Mr Bruton is in Wexford and Waterford today for a series of jobs and enterprise- related events for the SouthEast region.
Events include the action plan for Jobs Forum Wexford at Wexford Chamber of Commerce, which is chaired by Public Expenditure and Reform Minister Brendan Howlin.
