Anti-Ryanair protester handcuffed to goalpost

A serial anti-Ryanair protester was arrested after holding up a Premier League match last night by handcuffing himself to one of the goalposts at Goodison Park.

Everton were hosting league leaders Manchester City when John Foley, a Liverpool man angry about how his daughter was treated after training for a cabin crew job, made his way onto the field.

Mr Foley attached himself to the Man City goalpost — a team supported by Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary — and had to be removed by police five minutes before half-time.

Mr Foley wore a T-shirt with his anti-Ryanair logo to highlight his motivations to the television audience.

He has already been excluded from English horse racing events after running onto the track at Chelten-ham’s Ryanair Chase.

There have been other protests by Mr Foley at the Ashes cricket game, AIB headquarters, the offices of the Irish Aviation Authority and at an RTÉ mast arising out of a grievance with the Joe Duffy show.
