Call to suspend housing funds for Travellers

CALLS were made last night for no further money to be spent on Traveller accommodation in Co Clare until new legislation is introduced.

Cllr Tommy Brennan (Ind) and Cllr Bill Slattery (FG) made the demand after hearing of the spiralling costs of Traveller accommodation and related issues.

At a Clare County Council meeting, Mr Brennan said: “I believe that no further money should be spent until new legislation is in place so that these people can be controlled.”
