Rubberbandits duo share message that ‘love conquers all in these turbulent electoral times’

NATTILY dressed as ever, the duo who do musical parody like no others let loose on an audience of appreciative students yesterday with a performance of their latest single.

Rubberbandits duo share message that ‘love conquers all in these turbulent electoral times’

With their trademark reserve and good manners, the Rubberbandits, from Limerick, treated 3,000 DIT Bolton Street students to a gig that sent some running home to their mammies.

Armed with a new love song, a typical Limerick love ballad, the two gave it welly with I Want to Fight Your Father, a ditty designed “to show love conquers all in these turbulent electoral times”.

No strangers to politics having previously penned a song for Fianna Fáil’s Willie O’Dea, Rubberbandits were last night promising their new single “was sure to bring tears to the eyes of any boy or girl that’s ever been in love”.

Hot on the heels of Horse Outside — a song that tarnished forever the image of cars used by boy racers and changed forever the image of the homely bridesmaid — I Want to Fight Your Father promises to be another YouTube sensation.

Available for download from iTunes since midnight last night, it can be purchased in any reputable store nationwide from 9am today.
