First funeral of Limerick quadruple murder victims
The funeral of Alicia Brough, 20, will take place as final preparations are made for the joint funeral of Sarah Hines, 25, and her children, Reece, aged three, and Amy, aged five months, which is due to take place on Thursday.
All four were stabbed to death at Ms Hines’s rented house at 18 Hazelgrove in Newcastle West last Tuesday.
Large crowds attended the removal of Ms Brough’s remains in Rockchapel last night.
Originally from Cheadle in Staffordshire, England, she and her family moved to Rockchapel about six years ago.
Her remains were removed from Allen’s Funeral Home to the nearby St Peter’s Church, were Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 2pm this afternoon, followed by a private cremation.
Meanwhile, the bodies of Ms Hines and her two children will be buried together in Tournafulla, in south-west Limerick, about 25km from Newcastle West, where her family lives, on Thursday.
All three bodies will lie in repose at Roche’s Funeral Home in Tournafulla between 3pm and 7pm on Wednesday.
Parish priest Fr Willie O’Gorman will celebrate requiem Mass in St Patrick’s Church on Thursday.
The Mass will most likely begin at 12.30pm but the exact time has yet to be confirmed pending the arrival of relatives from Britain and continental Europe. Burial will take place afterwards in the local cemetery.
