MORE than 14,000 students sat the Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme this year with almost 2,000 awarded distinctions, and more than 7,000 receiving merits.

Often confused with the Applied Leaving Cert, the programme was introduced in 1994 in response to the country’s changing work and business environment.

The LCVP combines the academic strengths of the Leaving Certificate with a focus on self-directed learning, innovation and enterprise.
