Sister’s plea for missing brother to make contact
Liz Clifford, from Ballinhassig, Co Cork, urged her younger brother Denis to let them know he is safe.
“We are worried about him and we just want to know that he is okay. Please contact me,” an emotional Liz said.
“This is completely out of character for him to go missing like this. He has never done anything like this before.”
She also revealed that her brother Noel and his wife celebrated the birth of a baby, Ellen, two weeks ago.
“Denis has a beautiful little niece who would love to meet him,” Liz said.
“It’s supposed to be a happy time for us, but it’s hard to enjoy it to the full without knowing that Denis is okay.”
Denis, 30, edited the University College Cork student newspaper, The Express, before completing a degree in journalism at Dublin City University.
He freelanced for the Irish Times for several months and designed the website for Cork local radio station Red FM before embarking on a solo round-the-world trip.
He kept in regular email contact with friends and family and returned to Cork in May.
“I collected him from the airport and he was in very good form,” Liz said.
He then moved to stay with friends in Dublin while he tried to secure accommodation, but he has not been seen since early June.
Denis was last seen in a storage depot near the Red Cow roundabout in Dublin on June 5, where he was keeping some belongings.
Liz visited the depot last Tuesday and retrieved all the items, including Denis’s wallet and passport.
She urged anyone with information to contact Bandon Garda Station on 023-51220, or any Garda station.
Denis is described as 5’11” tall, with hazel eyes and long, dark-brown hair. He also wears glasses.
