Detectives are trying to piece together the final movements of James Brazier, who died in Kerry General Hospital, Tralee, early on Sunday, after receiving a number of stab wounds.

They want to know where he was and who he was with while socialising in the town on Saturday night and the early hours of Sunday.

Superintendent Michael Maher, Killarney, said: “We know some of the venues he was in, but may not know them all. We’re appealing to people who saw him to come forward so that we can put all the details together.”

Gardaí found Mr Brazier with serious injuries after they were called to 42 Pinewood Estate, Killarney, at around 2.30am, on Sunday.

A number of other people, including children, were in the house at the time.

Mr Brazier was rushed by ambulance to hospital, but died less than two hours after being admitted.

People living in the settled and mature Pinewood Estate have been stunned by the killing.

Killarney Independent town councillor Donal Grady said residents were “absolutely shocked” as they had never known of anything like that to happen in their neighbourhood.
