SCIENTISTS testing baby food for pesticide residues found 70 times the recommended limit in a popular dinner-time meal.

Tests on Heinz Mum’s Own Medley of Vegetables and Sweet Potatoes revealed traces of the herbicide maleic hydrazide , which is used to stop vegetables like potatoes from sprouting during storage.

The level in the food was 0.7 milligrammes per kilogramme (mg/kg). The recommended limit for infants is 0.01mg/kg.
