Exams will be the last at historic school
Although he will go on to do the Leaving Certificate, it is one of his last exams at the historic school, which is closing its doors to second-level education later this month.
He found the paper very hard as there was an awful lot of work to do in it.
“But I still got it finished in time. Hopefully paper II on Monday will be easier, because it’s based more on learning off things like equations and theorems.”
He was happier with the English papers on Wednesday, even though there was plenty writing to be done.
“I was a bit nervous the day before but when we got into the exam hall and started, everything was fine.”
The closure of the school should not affect him too badly, as he has secured a place in a school in Blarney, near where he lives in Grenagh, Co Cork.
His classmate Gary Condron is also moving to a new school in September.
“I’ll be going just up the road from my house to St Aidan’s Community College ... it’s nearer to home so I won’t mind changing too much,” he said.
Maths is Gary’s favourite subject but he found yesterday morning’s paper quite difficult.
“All the questions were hard, so I was a bit disappointed.”
With his last exam coming up next Thursday, he said he was looking forward to spending the summer helping out with some building work at home.
